Establishing a distinct design language is crucial for building a brand identity that resonates with your audience and distinguishes your brand. Under the direction of Coco Chanel and later Karl Lagerfeld, Chanel established their signature look: simplicity. The Fall Winter 2019 Ready-to-Wear show by Karl Lagerfeld and Virginie Viard, presented at the Grand Palais in Paris, showcased Chanel’s tweed suits, quilted textures, and monochromatic palettes.
The tweed suits were presented in both classic and contemporary cuts. Quilted textures appeared in outerwear, bags, and accessories, adding depth and an air of luxury. The monochromatic palette with the occasional pop of color emphasized clean lines and classic silhouettes. It was the late Lagerfeld who gracefully accentuated the codes of Chanel to the generations of the internet and social media. Combining visual elements with brand ethos helped convey a story and established brand values.
